New Addition to Shannon ABC Science Team

Dr Catherine Collins was recently awarded the position of Scientific Postdoctoral Researcher with Shannon ABC. Catherine graduated from NUIG in 1998 with an honours degree in Biochemistry and subsequently completed her PhD in Molecular Biology, also at NUIG.

Catherine has previously been employed as a Postdoctoral scientist in University of Exeter, NUIG, University of Bristol and University College Cork on topics such as "Screening of enzyme technology for bioconversion of microalgae to high-value bio-products" and "Establishing molecular tools for genetic manipulation of the pleuromutilin producing basidiomycete Clitopilus passeckerianus". We are very pleased to welcome Catherine to Shannon ABC and are looking forward to her applying her considerable molecular biology skills to a European funded project: Sustainable production of Biologically Active Molecules of Marine Based Origin (BAMMBO)

Catherine will be based in our laboratory facilities in the Hartnett Enterprise Acceleration Centre at LIT.
