New Addition to Shannon ABC Science Team

Mss Jessica Quane was recently awarded the position of Research assistant with Shannon ABC at LIT. She completed her undergraduate degree in Limerick Institute of Technology and was awarded a BSc. honours degree in Bio-analysis and Biotechnology in 2009.

Her final year project was based on a detection system for drugs of abuse in biological samples and from there lead to undertaking a research Masters in the detection of drugs of abuse in oral fluid using Molecularly Imprinted Polymers. Since then, Jessica has transferred to the Doctoral register and is in her last year of her PhD encompassing novel extraction techniques of drug compounds from biological samples and highly valued compounds from marine sources. Simultaneously, Jessica is involved in an Innovation Partnership with Enterprise Ireland and is working with a post-doctoral researcher at Shannon ABC on the biological fingerprinting of a hair restoral product.
